It was a perfect day for a wedding out at Milford Hills for Abby and Chad. They had everything beautifully set up with rustic accents and lovely personalize signs and decor. I found Abby getting ready in the Trading Post with all her gorgeous ladies. The guys had just had a morning of trap shooting and were excited for the night. I loved the hand carved ring box with their initials and wedding date! I wish I could carve wood like that! All of the groomsmen had sweet hockey sticks they used for the grand march and the night ended with a fireworks show! Can’t get much better than that!

What a great team involved in putting together such an amazing day!

Riley asked Halie to marry him at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve! How romantic is that?? They both really love their dog, Molly and spending time together doing home renovations in their extra time. That sounds like quite the lovely life.

Their wedding took place at Devil’s Head Resort in Merrimac on a beautiful July afternoon. With a country chic theme and bridesmaids in blush, everyone had a blast!

Halie and Riley’s Devil’s Head Wedding

A tropical themed wedding was the perfect opener to the wedding season after this wildly unpredictable Wisconsin winter.  There were beautiful florals of orchids, protea cynaroides, magnifica, birds of paradise, and little beta fish swimming around in the arrangements! The tables all had  cute little decorations of alligators, fish, turtles, tiny pineapples and exotic plants! Even the signature drink was bright blue with pineapple! We had an nice warm yet breezy day to compliment this beautiful April wedding. 

There were so many wonderful personal touches. Danielle’s dress had some lace in the back from her Mom’s wedding dress and I found out that a her Dad had carved the little wooden fish that were next to the place cards. The floral was done by her Mom’s cousin too!  Danielle even surprised Alex by having his “baby”, a souped up Stingray Corvette that he built out brought out to the parking lot for photos! It was awesome!

At the end of the night, you left with a donut from Dunkin for either a late night snack or breakfast! I grabbed one for my son because he absolutely love the chocolate ones with sprinkles.

Heidi and I truly enjoy our couples and these two were no exception. Everyone was so welcoming, fun, and felt pretty relaxed around us. I think we got some really beautiful photos and am so excited to share a few below! Congrats to the newlyweds!!

Our final wedding of the 2016 busy season was one of the most inspiring and emotional endings I have ever had. It was my very first gay wedding and I am so happy that Heidi and I were able to be a part of this momentous event for Nick + Michael and capture every amazing detail!

When I think back to the day of the wedding, all I can remember is how joyous everyone was.  We walked into their house full of amazing friends and loved ones, all getting ready together and drinking and laughing. These people are the kind of people I want to be around every day and throughout the day, there was never-ending laughter, cheering, hugging and dancing. It was such an amazing thing to witness.

We had so much fun taking photos at the Capitol with the wedding party and family and then just a few moments alone with the Grooms over at Yahara Place Park (one of my favorite places in Madison!).  The ceremony and reception took place at Madison Turners which is a fantastic venue for dancing and fitting in close to 300 guests! I was overwhelmed with the happiness, acceptance, emotion and just plain YES!

Here are just a few of my favorite moments from the big day. There are so many more but alas, I can only fit a small sampling of the amazing day. If I had to use three words to describe this incredible wedding, it would be: Unforgettable, Emotional, and FUN. Enjoy!

Catharine and her bridesmaids were laughing hysterically when Becca and I walked in the room. I immediately knew that today was going to be an overflowing barrel of you know what. We got out our cameras and immediately got to work shooting all of the beautiful details that our lovely bride had chosen for her big day. The candids came so naturally and I loved how easily these ladies fit together and how lively they were. No stress, just easy going and happy. If anything were to go wrong, I don’t think anyone would have cared.

Once everyone was beautified and ready to go, we headed on over to the Capitol for a First Look moment with Brian. These are my favorite moments. I get to capture the excitement of that sweet moment when they first see each other all dressed up and looking like something out of a magazine. Then I back away and capture their body language from a distance with a long lens and get some truly inspired photos.

The wedding party colors were so pretty in Victorian Lilac with green earthy colors for their bouquets which were from Abundance Acres. They really stood out in front of the Capitol and at Olbrich Gardens. Check out the ceremony with the big bicycle tire. Catharine and Brian are really big into biking and go for long long rides together. What a great way to bond and spend time together outdoors.

They also incorporated bicycles into their reception and on the wedding cake from Carl’s Cakes.  I couldn’t get enough of their cake topper! What a great day! These two were full of smiles all day and it was so contagious! I smiled through the entire editing process! And that, my friend, is awesome.
